New Favourite Numbers

Well - let me just say that my lack of posts in recent days is not indicative of a lack of words written.....
I am away from my novel-writing station so I can not be exact, but would estimate my current word count at around 88,000!!! I really am on the home straight now with just a few more scenes to write!
And what is more impressive (in my humble opinion!) is the fact that I managed it despite a hectic social calendar over the last few days - ending with my very first trip to the dogs last night. On my father's advice (he has worked in horse-racing all his life) I stuck to the same two numbers - 1 and 6 - on a 'reverse forecast' all night. After eight races (and EIGHT losses) I was about to give up when my numbers finally came up, netting me £15.05! (Last of the big betters....and we won't mention the fact that I had already shelled out 12 squid...)
Anyway - frivolities over - I will be knuckling down tonight and totting up a few more words.

WTG. Excellant news.

At least you came out ahead at the dogs :-)

Wow you must be really into your book if you can write it around work and a hectic social calender, lucky you....I need to find that sort of motivation from somewhere!Keep it up!

Greetings from a fellow novel racer. I see this post was a while ago - have you finished now?

Hi, am here on a semi-official visit from the novel racers to ask whether you still want to be in the race? We've noticed that you haven't been to the coffee breaks recently, and the new racers aren't being added to your sidebar. If you would like to stay with us, please leave a comment on Kate/Wordgirl's blog in the next week to say so (and we would also be grateful if you could update your sidebar). If you want to leave, you don't need to do anything and we'll take you off at the end of next week. If that's the case, you will always be welcome to return, again by leaving a comment on Kate's blog or sending her an email.

Hello again, apparently some people have been upset by my last message, I don't know if you are one of them but if you are please do accept my apologies. This subject has been under discussion at the last two coffee breaks and we thought we'd come up with a good way forward, but sometimes things come across differently than they are meant... there was no intention of wagging fingers or telling anyone off, just an attempt to find out who wanted to stay and who didn't as our sidebars are getting very long! I'm really very sorry if my comment upset you, and please do email me if this apology feels insufficient.

Hey, just stopping in to see how the writing's going and wish you well...

Hope things are still moving along as you wish them to!

Okay. I make it thirty-three weeks since your last post. How's your first novel doing with critiques and rewrites and markets and things? How's your second one (there has to be one) coming along?

Blog as still-life has a pretty cool zen feel to it, I'll admit. But I'm interested in what's going on with your writing life. :)
